LOCATION: Thetford, Norfolk         

JOB TITLE:  Head Chef / Kitchen Manager

SALARY & BENEFITS: circa £20,000 - £22,000 dependent on skills and experienceplus benefits

WORKING HOURS: Full Time – 08:30 – 5:30 will require to work 3 in 4 weekends until fully trained when will become alternate weekends

THE COMPANY:  Our client operate a popular coffee shop and café with a 5 star hygiene certificate located within an independent garden centre, established in 1982 and based in Kilverstone since 1992. Our client offers traditional home cooked dishes such as British Beef Lasagne, Seasonal Dishes, Roast Dinners, Smoked Bacon & Cheddar Tart, Rich Tomato & Basil Soup as well as made to order sandwiches on crusty bread, ‘Bakemaster’ oven baked jacket potatoes, and a selection of delicious cakes and treats. An exciting opportunity has now arisen for a Head Chef / Kitchen Manager to join their existing busy team.

THE ROLE: As a Head Chef / Kitchen Manager you will report to the Catering Manager but will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Kitchen.

Key Responsibilities for the Head Chef / Kitchen Manager's role in Thetford, Norfolk include:

- Manage, motivate and lead kitchen staff to ensure the smooth running of the kitchen
- Prepare and cook food and ensure that all dishes leaving the kitchen meet the company's excellent high standards
- Order and source stock from existing and new suppliers,  carry out stock labelling as well as stock rotation
- Carry out risk assessments, complete temperature sheets/probe sheets and ensure health and safety guidelines are met and adhered to
- Ensuring the cleanliness of the kitchen is kept to the current high standards

THE CANDIDATE:  The successful candidate for the Head Chef / Kitchen Managers role must be someone who has experience working with and preparing food and managing and leading a team of staff. You must have experience carrying out risk assessments and have a good knowledge of kitchen hygiene, health and safety, and COSHH standards. Any related qualifications are welcome, but most importantly for this role is experience working in a kitchen setting and managing staff. Our client is looking for someone who is passionate about taking ownership, and developing in this role.

Key Experience/ Characteristics preferred for the Head Chef / Kitchen Manager's role in Thetford, Norfolk :-

- Must have experience working in a kitchen or cafeteria and have experience as a manager or supervisor in a previous role
- Good knowledge of COSHH and food hygiene regulations as well as experience carrying out risk assessments is essential
- Although predominantly Monday – Friday you must be someone who is flexible and can commit to working 3 in 4 weekends until fully trained
- Any related qualifications would be beneficial
