The Infrastructure Manager will be joining a well-established team based in Lancashire.
The purpose of the Infrastructure Operations team will be to manage and maintain a wide range of IT infrastructure, ensuring the smooth running of the business that depends on that infrastructure, and to provide technical support and advice to the business's users. This opportunity is new role, created as part of a departmental restructure that is planned to increase the capability maturity of the day-to-day management of IT infrastructure. The team itself currently has seven direct reports that will come together from two existing smaller teams following the appointment of the successful candidate.
Although, primarily a managerial role, candidates should expect to be hands on due to the size of the team and the need for everyone to pitch in when needed. The team will also benefit from having someone will solid knowledge of the specific technologies (some/all) that are currently being used.
Existing Infrastructure includes; VMWare, NetApp, Microsoft Exchange, Windows Server, Linux/CentOS, Cisco UCM, JIRA/Confluence, thin-client deployments (RDS), Cisco Networking Infrastructure, LAN/WAN environments, DECT, end-user infrastructure (desktops/laptops, mobiles, Wyse terminals, tablets, printers, scanners), all-in-one multifunction printer (Canon), telephones and mobiles.
The strategic direction for 2017 (and beyond) include some major projects that will start to exploit the possibilities of cloud-based services. These projects include a replacement ERP/CRM platform, the continued implementation of an MDM solution, replacement Unified Communications platform and Office 365 (Exchange Online). As the journey to using cloud-based systems increases, as will the need to increase the focus on Information Security and improving the user awareness of their part in keeping infrastructure protected.
