HSE & Security Lead An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health and Safety Manager to join a developing Pharmaceutical company at their site in Newcastle. The successful candidate will provide expertise to the site and deliver with the standards required in the Pharmaceutical industry. To provide and ensure all HSE regulations, guidelines are followed and adhered to across site, by employees and contractors. To operate, implement and regularly review procedures for site HSE, Security and Protection Systems, in compliance with statutory, regulatory and corporate requirements The role will involve some travel early on to other sites in the UK, but overall the role will not involve a large amount of travel. Key Objectives/Responsibilities include: •To provide HSE and Security management and expertise at the site and deliver with the standards required in the Pharmaceutical industry. •To manage and ensure that all HSE regulations, guidelines are followed and adhered to by employees and contractors. •To operate, implement and regularly review Planned Maintenance procedures for site Security and Protection Systems, in compliance with statutory, regulatory and corporate requirements. •To provide direct supervision for the team of contracted Security Guards ensuring the site is adequately covered by trained staff at all times in accordance with contract service level agreements. •Regularly review and update risk assessments for the protection of buildings and the evacuation of personnel in compliance with Local Authority/Fire Brigade requirements. •To Manage and provide technical support for systems used in Emergency Procedures. •To resource and manage both internal labour, but primarily contractors to deliver the level of service required, ensuring corporate, regulatory and statutory requirements are met. •To ensure the standard of maintenance/service required for each primary contract is defined and to generate relevant KPI’s to measure the performance against that standard. •Manage all systems used to ensure the protection of the building fabric and external areas from fire and unauthorised intrusion (see list). All systems used to provide communications and ensure safe egress for personnel in the event of fire or other emergency situations requiring evacuation including; Sprinklers, CCTV systems and Fire Doors amongst others. Person Specification Skills and Capabilities: •A strong team player with a flexible and open communication style with the ability to direct and train others. •Ability to work within established processes and procedures with the freedom to use reasonable imitative within these. •Demonstrates a good understanding of their area and how in interacts successfully with other functions. •Flexible working •Excellent communication skills. •Communicates issues to other departments, and line manager as appropriate. •Developed skill base across a number of areas and specialist expertise relevant to functions •Experience of working within a busy time sensitive environment, working under pressure whilst effectively prioritising workloads. •Ability to challenge existing processes. Personal Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge: •Ideally Graduate level or equivalent •Nesbosh/ and IOSH qualified • 5 experience in industry related role/working in a similar position within the manufacturing industry. •Good technical appreciation of the way HSE operates in industry •Good working knowledge of PC’s and PC based packages. •Good technical knowledge of •General management skills: - Recruiting, Appraisals, Presentations, Budget control •Ability to make decisions and operate with minimum supervision •High level of health & safety awareness •Up to date knowledge of cGMP, cGDP and HSE This job was originally posted as www.totaljobs.com/job/66701301
