We are currently looking to recruit a Buyer to join our Buying Department. The role is based in our brand new Head Office in Park Royal. The Role: Reporting to the Senior Buying Manager, the successful candidate will manage the end-to-end strategic sourcing lifecycle and supply chain management, including NPD, supplier selection, negotiation, contract drafting and post-contract award supplier relationship management. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing select food categories, consumables, disposables and packaging. This role requires a high degree of collaboration with external suppliers, Wasabi operational teams, key stakeholders and Wasabi branches. Key Responsibilities: Negotiate costs with suppliers that will meet budget, deliver the best financial deal for Wasabi while achieving a sustainable relationship with the supplier. Proactively monitor cost prices that Wasabi pays and regularly benchmark these to ensure Wasabi's prices are competitive Hold regular review meetings with key suppliers to ensure that all aspects of the supplier's relationship with Wasabi meet the standards required (covering commercial /logistics/ performance /technical /NPD /sustainability) Constantly work with suppliers to search for efficiencies (e.g. in packaging/logistics/ ingredients /volume growth etc.) that will improve Wasabi's cost of food. Support shops and Technical teams by managing supplier's quality issues Manage the supply base to ensure that any potential risks to the supply of products are identified and that contingencies are put into effect to mitigate these Keep abreast of market changes that could impact on costs and future strategic purchasing e.g. commodity and currency market movements Manage New supplier approval process and ensure that internal audit controls are followed Forecasting and stock control to be reviewed weekly; ensuring the products are delivered on time, and managing products shelf life. Act as an 'expert' for products in your area of responsibility. Lead or participate in projects as required. Consider shops first and shop simplicity when making any decision and provide daily shop support in response to queries about your product areas Requirements: Good understanding of purchasing processes and practices in a fast moving retail/service organisation Excellent planning, organisation, commercial awareness, analytical and negotiation skills Degree level education or equivalent A minimum of 1 years' successful related experience in FMCG and retail procurement Desirable but not essential to be studying towards CIPS Strong communication and influencing skills Project management skills Strong computer skills - Excel / PowerPoint/ word Dynamic self-motivated team player striving to deliver the best results for Wasabi In return we provide a great working environment, bonus scheme, plus other incentives and the opportunity to develop your skills within a growing company .
