Strategic Buyer - Manufacturing Based in Doncaster £35-40k Car & Benefits Job Purpose To effectively manage and control the expenditure of several supply categories to ensure the business realises its aspirations in budgetary savings and product availability Dimensions o Significant annual expenditure o Category covers all relevant sites in the UK o Worldwide supply base o Payment terms optimisation within category supply base o Supplier OTIF optimisation, optimum stock days coverage, consignment stock, MOQ's Accountabilities o Negotiate with suppliers to ensure departmental and company cost saving targets are achieved o Manage suppliers to continually develop, review, and implement cost saving initiatives o Develop and source suppliers whom share common synergies o Collaborate with suppliers to maximise OTIF and minimise stock days to help with company cash flow targets o Reduce number of suppliers in own category area with the aim of achieving a fully supported 'best in class' supplier base o Develop, produce, and review category plans to ensure UK market knowledge is up to date and interpret this data to provide continual input for review of the Purchasing Strategy and to feed into the business as a whole o Ensure Category Plans include operational and strategic plans to meet the business goals and objectives o Support other departments on introduction of new products and ensure that Purchasing are fully involved in new development projects, direct materials, Capex and Indirect services o Where appropriate, liaise with Group Purchasing on initiatives that affect own category area and ensure that the interest of the region is primarily considered o Record and provide timely reports to the business on OTIF, stock days, and progress on achieved and future savings o Lead one or more central categories for the benefit of other Operating Companies o Set strategy, saving budget and objectives for those categories Candidate Requirements Essential o Excellent negotiation skills, able to influence at all levels o Capable of building category plans and implementing higher level purchasing strategy o Clear understanding of the purchasing process o Relevant industry experience o Ability to network and build strong relationships both internally and externally in a multicultural environment (Europe). o Strong IT skills (SAP, Microsoft Office, other web-based applications) o SAP experience (user and/or process owner) o Graduate level or at least 5 years strategic purchasing experience. o Fluent English o Well developed problem solving skills o Able to travel according to job demands, both nationally and internationally o Ability to balance and manage supply risk o Ability to use own initiative to create cost saving ideas through to implementation Desirable o CIPS Qualified o Experience in sourcing a variety of direct materials and indirect service requirements o Specific sourcing experience in the following categories: o Packaging o Professional Services o Metal and Non-plastic components o Raw Materials This job was originally posted as
