Commercial Group Leader – Diagnostics – Cambridgeshire A growing medical devices company, based in Cambridgeshire, are currently looking for someone to lead a growing commercial area of the business. The area of the business you will be leading will likely have a focus on point-of-care diagnostics, however part of your role will be to strategise the focus of the group. Working as the face of the business your responsibilities will include working out the best business development plans for the group, executing said plans, having consultative conversations with new clients and leading obtained projects. With these duties you will need to have a technical background in diagnostic development, this could be in point-of-care, molecular diagnostics and other complex diagnostics technologies. It would be ideal if you have developed from a technical R&D role into a more commercial role, such as consultant, client facing project manager, business development, sales or another role that involves having continued conversation with internal and external clients. It is expected that a lot of your work would have been with start-up companies and spinout companies in the medical devices and scientific sectors, due to this is would be useful if you have ever been in a start-up/spin-out company or been in a role that involved working with these types of companies. This being said you will direct the strategic focus of the group meaning if you feel working with larger companies would be better and you already have connection we are happy to have the conversation. Due to the technical knowledge needed for this role it is expected you would hold a degree within a scientific, engineering or electronics field that focuses on diagnostics. A PhD would also be useful but not essential. This is a very important role that will progress into more responsibility. This extra responsibility will only be limited by your own success. This will be ideal for someone who enjoys working with and leading a R&D team of experts but without having to worry about the man-management side of the role.
