Purpose of role The IT Operations Engineer supports the provision of 24/7, 365 day internal services and externals managed services. Complying with agreed SLA and external contracts by Operating systems, this role also involves the development and implementation of changes to IT Operations procedures and systems as a result of customer and internal improvement initiatives. The role of the IT Operations Engineer involves both 1st and 2nd Level Support. Principle duties · Responsible for service delivery out of hours and be the primary contact and decision maker for all KCOM employees' IT service issues and their resolution. · Escalate operational incidents/issues where necessary to ensure the delivery of high quality services · Review and approve change request identifying risks and issues to ensure that live systems are not compromised. · Reliable implementation of defined Operations Procedures · Monitor services to ensure delivery in line with SLAs and resolve incidents and service requests in line with SLAs · Outside Service Desk operating hours provide Service Desk function for both internal services and externals managed services · Maintain up to date Operational guides and documentation · Take part in business continuity testing and execute disaster recovery plans when required · Expert in Operating a wide range of processes and activities including the Information Disclosure processes for RIPA and any other lawful request, carried out on the behalf of all parts of KCOM. · Identify and implement improvements to IT Operations processes and systems. · Support the development of new/amended IT solutions to comply with production acceptance standards Knowledge/Skills and Experience This role requires excellent: · Communication · Relationship Management · Stakeholder Management · Influencing and Negotiation · Organising and Planning · Problem Solving Technical: · Unix Administration · Microsoft Active Directory · Microsoft Server Management · Ability to hold security clearances Here at KCOM everyone plays their part in our success.
