The role of Strategic Communications Manager offers broad strategic and operational accountability, as well as extensive commercial involvement, that will be instrumental in helping shape the company's strategy throughout Europe. Operating within two key business unit areas the key responsibilities of this role will include, but won't be limited to, the following; Creating, delivering and implementing the European comms strategy; Develop, manage and own strong relationships with external media and a vast range range of stakeholders and associates throughout Europe; Drive internal comms to align the relevant business areas across the regions; Appoint and manage support agencies and a range of suppliers including PR, comms, etc; Work closely with the corporate comms team when coordinating news flow; Adhere to the relevant code of practice and industry regulations in order to ensure that all activities are ethical and compliant; Be open to frequent international travel to meet relevant stakeholders, both internal and external. In order to be considered it is imperative that you have proven experience delivering strategic international communications within a regulated environment, preferably pharmaceuticals or bio-technology, however, at the very least you will need to bring a strong social competence and cultural sensitivity with the ability to thrive in a multi-cultural environment. Familiarity handling media-led issues in a regulated sector is required, as is solid experience in comms supporting services such as media monitoring, media engagement proactive and reactive communication material, distribution of media materials, etc. The ability to build relationships with influential stakeholders is key. Your presentation and communication skills across a diverse range of cultures will need to be first class and it goes without saying that you will be equally effective working under your own steam as well as within a team environment.
