A Sheffield based business who specialise in complex measurement equipment in the engineering sector are looking for a Principal Software Engineer, Technical Specialist, Software Manager to join the team. Any of the aforementioned job titles describe this position. Job purpose : You will manage and work within the Software Engineering team developing the next generation of software. The role will involve the complete development life cycle from requirements elicitation through to implementation and testing. You will be a hands on engineer with experience of managing a software team of have the character traits to do so. Key responsibilities and accountabilities: Management of the complete software development project life cycle. Execute specific software project activities in line with the company’s quality assurance procedures. Communicate effectively to all project stakeholders. Participate in stakeholder visits in the UK and possibly overseas. Documentation of all key software development activities. Key Accountabilities/ Success Factors: Create and define project specifications which meet agreed targets Completion of projects to agreed timescales Satisfaction of project stakeholders. Ability to manage and motivate a remote team based in India Experience Required: Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a software development engineering/management position. Experience developing Windows applications for the .NET framework using C#. Experience developing software using C++ and MFC. Familiarity with TCP/IP communications and basic network administration. Microsoft Expression Studio user interface design. Proven “Project implementation” success in a fast moving development environment. Ability to work with stakeholders to deliver projects effectively Worked in a formal, continuous improvement environment Professional Qualifications/ Education: · Degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
