Our client is a global energy supply company who are seeking a Forecasting Manager to support a small team within their amazing East London Offices. While you will be managing a small team of two, management experience isn't essential as the company have an extensive Management Training Program in place to support people that have the desire to move into this field. However, a strong analytical background is essential. This is a great permanent opportunity to work for a reputable company with great company benefits To work as the leader of a team that forecasts the demand and manages the risk of European Power Portfolio, managing two members of staff. Through accurate forecasting and analysis of risk the post-holder will aid procurement decision-making and help reduce balancing costs. Development short term demand forecasting methodologies for the European electricity portfolio. Ensure that models/processes used are accurate and facilitate a timely delivery of data to the Procurement team. Monitoring forecast error, report on forecast performance and perform analysis which will further develop demand forecasting methodologies in order to improve the accuracy of demand forecasts. Suggest improvements to the efficiency and accuracy of existing operational tasks Become the first point of contact with IT, raising faults or suggesting improvements to systems which will enhance the team's reporting. Conduct User Acceptance Testing and manage the implementation of new data management systems Analyse system prices which may lead to high imbalance costs Explain periods of volatile consumption and forecast errors when required Analyse prompt balancing and outturn Profit & Loss performance Ensuring that each of the Marketing entities communicate data required to the Power Operations team to enable smooth running of the day to day activities, flagging up data and process issues when necessary Build relationships with the local entity points of contact Answer queries in a timely manner, ensuring that as a member of the central team a high level of service is always delivered When required supporting the Power Exposure sub-team in its day to day activities. QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Previous commercial experience within the energy, Finance or Insurance industry desired Degree in a numerate/analytical discipline e.g. Economics, Statistics, Computer Science Strong analytical ability Strong communication skills; ability to communicate technical arguments to non-technical audiences Good knowledge of Microsoft applications, in particular Excel and Access Knowledge of SQL This job was originally posted as
