Portfolio are currently working with a company in Alton, Hampshire to recruit for a Technical Field Sales Engineer to join their Sales Team. Our client is a growing company who have been established for 50 years, their products are used by some of the most well-known names in industry. Serving all sectors including Aerospace, Automotive, Medical, Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Cutting Tools, Precision Engineering companies etc. from SME’s to large corporates. In this role you will work out of the Alton office, covering the South East and Midlands sales territory. The sales area has great growth potential. Each opportunity requires technical evaluation, site visit to assess the application requirements followed by a technical product demonstration, quote preparation which can often require bespoke elements and follow up to closing. You will be managing multiple opportunities at any one time and will have the support of a Sales Support Manager. Role Detail: · Identify new sales opportunities · Technical qualification of customer marking projects · Appointment setting, onsite visits to include detailed assessment of customers’ application and in depth product demonstrations tailored to customer requirements (on average 3 visits per day, 3 days per week) · Carrying out sample marking on customers’ components · Liaising with production specifying bespoke work such as fixturing / workstations etc. · Participating at trade shows · Approx. 3 days on client site each week, 1-2 days office based (in Alton, Hampshire) Skills and Experience Required: · A strong technical engineering background with field sales experience with mechanical equipment to both SME and corporate businesses · Degree of similar qualification in a mechanical engineering discipline. Experience in one or more of the following: machine building, automation, production line processes · Work with third party integrators · Excellent communicator / rapport builder · Good at fact finding with the ability to understand customer application in detail and recommend the best solutions · Excellent negotiation skills · Ability to build strong relationships and contacts across organisations and identify new opportunities and build contacts within an organisation · Strong IT skills ideally with experience of CRM systems · High energy / enthusiastic attitude · Ability to read engineering drawings This is a fantastic opportunity to join an expanding sales team in a long-established and growing company.
