Logistics Specialist / Manager – Pharmaceutical manufacturing Edinburgh Following internal promotion, our client, a market leading, international pharmaceutical manufacturing organisation is looking to recruit an experienced Logistics Specialist with a strong manufacturing background to head up the logistics function spanning multiple sites – UK & internationally. Cold chain supply / distribution. Candidates will have gained experience within a regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment with experience of cold chain supply management activities / cold chain distribution processes. The successful candidate will be part of the management team and will direct all aspects of logistics/distribution management activities across multiple locations in the UK dealing with multiple distribution networks in the UK & internationally and with an international supplier base. You will be experienced in working with / managing a cold chain distribution process. As a commercially aware Logistics Specialist, your remit will be highly varied and you will be responsible for providing an integrated approach to managing all logistics / distribution activities across the company's distribution sites/ networks spanning UK & international locations working. You will be working with a UK & international customer and supplier base. You will be responsible for the management and delivery of all the logistical requirements including EU imports/exports & intra-EU activities across a cold chain distribution environment. Your remit will include – · Manage the strategic direction of the Logistics function within a regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing business. Cold chain distribution environment. GMP. · Deliver strategic and tactical objectives across the logistics function, ensuring an efficient operation across the organisation & ensuring compliance with GMP requirements. · Manage multiple distribution networks / locations. · Develop and manage Logistic, Distribution/Transport KPI's · Develop operational and strategic logistics plans to ensure that the business has the appropriate resources to deal with continued growth. · Use Lean principles to ensure delivery is on time and in full through all external and internal customers · Manage logistics budgets and spend, 3PL vendor relationships & routing strategy · Responsible for all aspects of contract management · Co-ordinate transportation of products across a cold chain distribution network, organising and monitoring work flow. Validation activities across logistics/distribution ensuring GMP regulations are met for the safe distribution of products within a cold chain environment. · Provide accurate and timely information on resource and capacity required to meet customer requirements · P&L responsibility for distribution costs with the remit of delivering year on year efficiency savings. · Implement continuous improvements to ensure the efficient running of shipping activities. The successful candidate with have a strong supply chain background (cold chain supply/distribution) with a logistics/distribution management specialism gained within a regulated pharmaceutical/scientific manufacturing environment together with - · Extensive experience in negotiating on client and supplier agreements, service level agreements, contracts and terms & conditions. Contract management experience essential. · Strong knowledge of logistics budgets to maximise profitability and mitigate financial risk · Experience within a similar role and the ability to demonstrate experience of managing a logistics function within a complex manufacturing environment · Excellent organisational and communication skills with the ability to gain confidence of all levels both internally and externally · Strong understanding of process development and delivery · Proven ability to build strong relationships with internal/external clients, suppliers and partners Rewards This is an excellent opportunity to join a market leading organisation during a time of growth.
