Technical Specialist (Python, Node, Unix) Milton Keynes Permanent Salary: £21,500 - £35,000 per annum (depending on experience) Our Client, a large financial services organisation, is looking for an enthusiastic Technical Specialist to join the team in Milton Keynes. The role holder will be responsible for doing data discover on Hadoop, Oracle and even text files. You will need to adapt and enjoy the challenge of using anything possible to deliver data quality, from python, node, SAS, SQL. You will need to run daily automated processes, debug programs and also be able to attend meetings and give reports on current issues. This is a slightly more junior role, the right person will be able to take work off people in the team such as adding functionality to a program or receiving results of a query and being able to dive into the data and investigate. Key Skills & Experience required: Interpersonal skills are essential, together with the ability to establish good, professional, working relationships with stakeholders. Analytical skills with a proven track record for problem solving in a time pressured environment. Technical skills; Degree in programming isn’t needed, but passion is, the right person will be able to talk at length about previous projects and scripts. Understanding of python or similar language is needed and also someone comfortable with OOP. Attention to detail. Experience working in a project environment Previous work on databases essential. Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, individually and as part of a team Passionate about delivering excellent customer service, all of the time. Scripting experience, python, perl, node etc. Communication skills, ensuring all stakeholders are briefed appropriately and excellent written and verbal skills Experience of providing recommendations for improvements Proven ability in identifying, analysing and successfully resolving issues Able to pick up new tasks quickly and with minimal supervision Ability to understand &communicate the risk associated with an incident A “can do” / positive attitude and approach, able to work using own initiative Demonstrates personal commitment to the success of the department / business A mature approach to change and accurate approach to work A structured attitude to work and able to prioritise If you or someone you know are suitable for this role, apply confidentially today.
