The Client My client were a small independent consultancy founded in 2003 that have recently been acquired by one of the largest engineering consultancies in the world due to their fantastic reputation. Despite being acquired they have maintained their small specialist consultancy outlook and continue to work to their key strengths whereby all senior staff and management remain fully 'hands-on' and engaged in technical project delivery with both staff and clients. Their staff provide a wealth of specialist knowledge and expertise that is used to deliver pragmatic solutions in wastewater and environmental management. Their clients include a number of UK Water Companies through direct framework appointments, plus a number of major public and private sector clients. They continue to deliver on their projects because of their team of specialists and technical experts to deliver high quality, cost effective and innovative services. The Role Due to the acquisition this client now have the exciting opportunity to diversify the work they are able to complete and as such require an ecologist to supplement their staff and help out on current projects. The successful candidate will be able to lead dusk emergence and dawn re-entry surveys, undertake bat sound analysis and plan surveys. They will have a significant level of bat survey experience and ideally hold a class 2 bat licence or above. The Candidate Essential Requirements: Class 2 Bat licence (e.g. class licence CL18 level 2 or above); Experience in acting as the named ecologist on European Protected Species development) licences for a range of bat species; Experienced report writer who applies attention to detail; Experience of leading bat surveys; and Proficient in bat sound analysis Desirable Requirements An appropriate ecological degree qualification; Experience of bat care or other handling experience (bat box checks / harp trapping & mist netting etc); Experience of having attended bat survey training courses; Experience with other species groups would be an advantage; and Experience of manging other staff members.
