Design Engineer & Senior Design Engineer Opportunities Leighton Buzzard Up to £45,000 depending on experience B/E Aerospace in Leighton Buzzard are the sole supplier of galleys and trolley compartments for the Airbus A350. Our business is rapidly expanding and ramping up as the new aircraft enters production and with the impact of this programme alone means that production rates will increase from typically one ship-set per month to 13 per month. This will be sustained for at least the next ten years, with further programmes expecting to be added to the portfolio. We are currently looking to recruit a number of Design & Senior Design Engineers, to be responsible for researching, planning, designing and developing mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement and use of energy. The Senior Design Engineer will be responsible for leading projects and giving direction to design engineers, communicating effectively and professionally with customers and suppliers. You will be required to participate in Design Reviews throughout each phase of New Product Introduction process, ensuring the successful integration of each design element with the product as a whole. Nature of Work for the Design Engineer & Senior Design Engineer Opportunities: The design and detail modelling of a variety of suite components in order to meet the programme requirements The creation of Service Bulletins, Repair Schemes and Service Letters that meets the customers modifications or repair needs and that conform to EASA requirements through our DOA procedures Managing and meeting cost and weight targets Communicating effectively and professionally with customers and suppliers, translating technical information (Airbus, Boeing, Sukhoi and other Commercial airlines) Participating in Design Reviews throughout each phase of the New Product Introduction process The selection and application of materials and processes appropriate to each design element Ensuring the successful integration of each design element with the product as a whole Following and contributing to the development of the Best Practice guidelines as laid out in Quality documentation Checking engineering packages Generating and/or revising specifications Participating in the validation of the product (using such methods as prototyping, test, DFMEA) Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities in becoming the successful Design Engineer or Senior Design Engineer: You will hold an Engineering degree or HNC/ONC in a design related field with proven related experience where you have managed multiple projects. You will have a sound engineering capability and experience to create effective engineered solutions based on interior design and will be a competent user of the incumbent CAD and data management systems. With the ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation and the aptitude to work without direct supervision, you will be IT literate and will have a flexible approach as you may be required to travel.
