Software Development Manager (Net / Java) – Management Role Asda are looking for a Software Development Manager to work in a FUN fast paced and exciting environment “Asda Culture”. You must have a good technical understanding or background. The role will be largely hands-off, but you will need be able to lead a team at a technical level. Your team will be made up of resources from our outsourcing development partner, both on-shore and off-shore. You’ll need to have experience of estimating the effort required to develop solutions, and managing the allocation of resources to a number of different development activities running in parallel. Our most common technical stack is either .NET or Java, but other technologies could be used depending upon requirements. This is a great opportunity to work for a company who can not only offer you great career potential, but we also offer flexible working and free parking in the centre of Leeds Responsibilities: You’ll have involvement in the early stages of projects, such as Requirements and Design phases, to provide expert input around the application development elements. Attend estimation sessions to estimate the level of effort and duration of application development activities for a particular project. On-board development resources from strategic partners, ensuring all required governance is adhered to. Understand and plan tasks required to deliver solutions, and identify how these tasks could be split across multiple resources to maximise the speed of delivery Pro-actively adapt to changes in solution design, timescales, or budget, performing an impact analysis and providing feedback Work closely with QA managers to help build a robust QA plan. Ensure that defects found during QA testing are resolved quickly and efficiently Pro-actively monitor project risk and escalate to the Application Development Team Manager and Project Manager when appropriate Constantly review and improve Asda development standards to drive agility and reduce cost.
