The Client My client is a young and dynamic organisation that has exciting expansion plans over the next 5 years. A small but growing organisation they are looking to recruit a Principal level Ecologist to help them progress. The client have built the business around helping clients to achieve their goals with honest answers and high quality work. They pride themselves on their strong reputation that sees many clients use them on a regular basis. Their workload is generally within the development sector and their reports are completed to the highest standard with planning approval in mind. They are able to undertake any ecological assessment required for a wide range of species and habitats. The Role The company currently operates from two offices in the East Midlands and Cambridgeshire. Due to continued growth they require a Principal level Ecologist to help deliver and progress their operation in Cambridgeshire. They also welcome applicants from Oxfordshire and Aylesbury regions that are happy to consider some work from home and some in the office as they have a large volume of work in those areas. The successful candidate should be highly proficient in ecological consultancy. Ideally you will have experience within supporting and mentoring junior staff as well as having a background within developing business. You will have the exciting challenge of managing their current Senior Ecologist as well as further building a team. Person Specification You will have a proven record of project management & delivery, field work and technical reporting with a desire to mentor other staff and improve your knowledge in a chosen field. With an ambition to help grow the ecology business. A demonstrable track record and experience of working within the Midlands region is highly desirable. Applicants with Natural England survey licences (e.g. Class 2 for bats in particular) are highly desirable and experience in preparing HRA's or mitigation and EPS development licences would also be a distinct advantage. It is essential that you are a proactive client manager, have excellent tendering, financial, written and verbal communication skills and the energy to get involved with our exciting projects in the Midlands. You will be able to work with autonomy, as well as supporting the needs of the wider team, communicating on appropriate technical and commercial levels to a diverse range of current and potential clients. An eye for detail is imperative as you will be expected to write and review reports efficiently and to a high standard. A relevant degree is required as a minimum, plus good ICT skills including MS Word and Excel. Full membership of CIEEM is expected, and a full UK driving licence is also required.
