A new role for a Materials Scientist / Applied Physicist with a strong background in developing novel materials and chemistry based solutions for commercial applications has arisen at one of the UK's leading technology development consultancies in Cambridgeshire. They are growing and require a creative Materials Scientist / Applied Physicist with a demonstrable background of developing novel materials & Chemistry based solutions for commercial applications. The Materials Scientist / Applied Physicist will work in multi-disciplinary project teams providing their expertise and insight on a broad range of problems including materials capability, product formulation and chemical process engineering. You will architect a technical solution and take responsibility for the technical delivery of it. To be considered for the role of Materials Scientist / Applied Physicist you need the following: Education: A PhD in Materials Science / Applied Physics or similar Experienced of Product Development in a fast moving commercial organisation Technical Leadership experience Understanding of Key principals in the physical sciences Consideration of design elements including Mechanical, Electronic & Software Engineering In addition the following would be beneficial: Experimental/laboratory skills, particularly building experiments involving fluid transport and controlled reactions with aspects of inline measurement and monitoring Practical use of laboratory techniques such as miscroscopy, spectroscopy and sample preparation for techniques such as GCMS, FTIR and HPLC Experience with data analysis and presentation in Excel and/or Matlab. Knowledge of techniques such as PLSR, PCA, DOE and ANOVA an advantage Automation and control of experiments (e.g. VBA, LabView, Python or other software) Experience with any simulation/design/CAD tools (for example Solidworks, Zemax or ANSYS) Location Cambridgeshire Salary - The salary with be highly competitive and reflective of the candidates experience Benefits - Exceptional This job was originally posted as
