Forest House is a school for young people aged 14 to 19 years with severe to mild autistic spectrum disorder and associated learning difficulties. Pupils may also have challenging behaviour as a result if their communication difficulties and a lack of social understanding. Our School offers a safe, structured and predictable environment for pupils to develop the skills they need to live as independently as possible and make real life choices as they reach adulthood. We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented cook who loves children. As well as high-quality lunches for students, guests and staff, you will be responsible for organising breakfast and mid-morning snacks. The successful candidate will be capable of all aspects of food-ordering, preparation and serving as well as washing up and kitchen cleaning. Initially you will work alone. As the school grows you will be involved in the appointment, leadership and management of possible additional staff. We are looking for an energetic and creative person who will enjoy working with challenging children, including offering some life-skills training (teaching cooking). Significant training will be given.
