We have an exciting new opportunity for an Interaction Designer. Our Cambridge based client needs to ramp up its UI/UX capabilities significantly. The challenges will be rewarding and varied, and you could find yourself solving tough interaction problems. You'll be designing functional physical and digital interfaces with, sometimes, the toughest of constraints. You'll lead the UI/UX focus within projects (internal and external), employing a variety of proven and engaging methods to help formalise the client needs and convert them into high quality, visually appealing and functional concepts. You'll define and communicate your vision of UI/UX to the client and development teams for implementation and define and test interactions of products, each with their own constraints and set of users. You'll also be mentoring/supporting junior designers and advocate the essence of the work within the development and commercial communities. We'll need to see a strong portfolio showing your work processes (i.e. not only the end results) and a cover letter explaining why you're considering the role. What You'll Be Doing: Interpret user/client needs Generate high quality visuals Prepare proposals that capture these needs Set design direction, gaining buy in from team members Develop UI/UX features and requirements Test/Evaluate your design with end users Communicate design solutions to the client Promote UI/UX design within project teams You'll use your expertise to liaise with clients, understand technical and marketing requirements, and prepare project proposals in accordance with the client's needs What We're Looking For: A degree in HCI, Design or other relevant experience in the field Good knowledge of user-centred, user interface, user experience design methods and tools Curiosity and empathy Passion for elegant design solutions and an eye for detail You can reframe problems to uncover simple design solutions Facilitate design sessions and workshops with the client and the project team Work effectively with a multidisciplinary team of Industrial Designers, Human Factor Engineers and Mechanical Engineers Test your design assumptions with users Communicate clearly and succinctly This job was originally posted as
