Our Client is part of a major European Speciality Chemical Distribution Group. They are now seeking a Market Manager – Salt. This position will be office based in Cheshire. This position is a full-time permanent role and will report to the Regional Business Manager. Job Purpose · Manage the Salt product portfolio within the Business Unit in order to meet product gross margin and working capital targets, by agreeing and implementing the Business Strategy · Line management responsibility for the Salt Team (Sales Manager & Commercial Assistant), liaising with the Warehouse, and Supply Chain Key Responsibilities · Manage a portfolio of products and deliver gross margin, working capital, fixed costs and cash flow targets in order that the businesses meets their financial targets · Maintain and develop relationships with Principals in order to retain existing business and gain new business · Negotiate and secure supply contracts with all key Principals in order to ensure long term security of supply · Liaise with the Supply Chain Manager in order that business and individual objectives are optimised by the Supply Chain team · Monitor, report and act on market and competitor activities in order to ensure that product strategies reflect current market activity · Implement the business strategies in order that the long term interests of the businesses are protected; focused sector development · Ensure compliance with all SHEQ requirements, procedures and working instructions in order to maintain high customer service standards Qualifications and Experience · The jobholder must demonstrate clear commercial awareness, combining marketing, selling and purchasing expertise with strategic, tactical and analytical thinking · Interpersonal skills are essential. The jobholder is required, as appropriate, to coach, motivate and negotiate with people at all levels both internally and externally, including the sales staff, commercial teams and customer service staff at all levels within Principal organisations · The jobholder must fully understand and be able to manage business financials, demonstrating an operating knowledge of debtors, creditors, stock management and cash flow · The Salt industry is a focused business, in which competitive advantage is gained through an in-depth knowledge of the respective market. The Market Manager needs to work closely with the team to ensure that this advantage is developed to the best advantage of the businesses · The role requires close cooperation with the Regional Business Manager along with our Agent in order to develop and implement strategy consistent with the future needs of the businesses · Ability to drive strategic direction setting · Excellent Communication and inter-personal Skills · Ability to work under pressure · Ability to coach and motivate the sales, commercial and customer service team · Ability to liaise with people at all levels both internally and externally In return our client is offering a competitive package including a basic salary of around £35,000 - £40,000 (salary is negotiable and dependent on experience) plus bonus and benefits.
