Quantity Surveyor Grade: K - £35,093 - £37,858 pa Permanent Full Time 37 Hours Council Housing, Design & Technical Services provides a wide-range of Construction Consultant Services and support to the Council, other local authorities and commercial customers. Our services span the complete design lifecycle from master planning and feasibility through to contract completion and Final Account. We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor with a relevant construction degree (or equivalent) with full Corporate Membership of RICS (or actively working towards this). You should have knowledge of all aspects of the profession (including pre and post cost control and procurement). Reporting to the Principal Quantity Surveyor, this is a key role at the heart of our succession planning. You should have the potential to fill the business-critical position of Principal Quantity Surveyor in the longer term. You will also work closely with Designers/Project Managers advising on tender preparation and undertaking cost planning and pre-contract and post-contract Quantity Surveying services and have strong commercial and people skills as well as good contractual knowledge and experience of dealing with contractors. You should be computer literate, have a broad knowledge and experience of Quantity Surveying within the Building Industry. You should have the ability to get on well with others and be able to calmly and effectively analyse problems as they arise and then quickly reach the right decisions as part of a team is vital. Experience of dealing with Contractors is also an essential requirement. You will have a working knowledge of QS computer programmes (experience of CATO would be especially welcome), CPI & NBS and an understanding of relevant health and safety regulations.
