Our client has many years’ experience of designing and building specialized B2C and B2B websites. Over the last 20 years they have grown organically and now require an additional headcount in the form of a Senior DevOps Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity for those looking to take on responsibility/ownership of hosting operations, working in tandem with the development division. The Job; You will be supporting an environment that builds and runs PHP & MySQL Applications. In an almost exclusive Linux (Ubuntu), cloud computing environment you will also be a part of a migration project decreasing a number of physical servers based in the UK to the cloud. Play a part in the support, from the customer-facing ticket system to the basic phone support (web site down, site speed slow etc.) along with proactively reassign any potential development issues/queries with the appropriate team. Skills required; Experience within the LAMP environment including knowledge of configuration management languages such as Ansible, Puppet or Chef Good debugging skills are really important so you will need to be familiar with tcpdump, strace or gdb Ideally have knowledge of the following; Familiar with PHP based applications would be a great start Familiar with the Magento platform would be a bonus Dabble with touch applications written in a lot of different languages, familiarity with more languages is a plus. You do not need to be an expert, but any Ruby, C, Go, Java, and PHP you have will help They manage almost everything that they can with GIT version control software, so experience with it or a similar version control system would be helpful. Some other tools they use which it would be great if you have experience with are: Grafana/Graphite, Kibana/Logstash, ElasticSearch, CloudStack, Ceph, Redis, Bind, Exim, Tomcat, KVM, Sense, Icinga/Nagios, GitLab, Varnish, Nginx, CloudInit, MongoDB.
