Network Consultant (Contract) - Start: ASAP Location: Manchester Role: 3 month rolling contract Rate: £350 per day Gyrocom is a fast-growing leading edge technology business, reinventing the data centre with Next Generation IT infrastructure design and technologies. We’re now looking for an exceptional experienced Network Consultant to deliver best-in-breed communications solutions as part of a highly talented team. This role is based on one of our client sites and we therefore require someone who is highly customer-focussed, professional, proactive and autonomous. You’ll have at least 5-7 yrs experience as a Network Engineering Consultant, working with network, security and wireless technologies, ideally with a CCNP qualification. You’ll have experience of vendor technologies such as Cisco (essential) and knowledge/familiarity with VMware and F5. If you have any knowledge of Meraki, it’s highly advantageous The Role: You will be responsible for the development of network design and architecture standards, vendor evaluation and documentation for the design, implementation and support of all data network technologies. You will also: Deliver complex technical projects Define technical direction (where appropriate) and agree with sponsors/ client management Produce and maintain high quality technical documentation Provide technical guidance to team mates where required Deliver informative, well-organized presentations both internally and externally Interface professionally with external clients Skills Profile: The role requires at least 5-7 yrs experience as an Engineering Consultant with expertise in: advanced Routing (OSPF, BGP, MPLS), Switching (Layer2/3), Quality of Service (QoS), Load Balancing (SLB/GSLB), Security (FW/IPS/IDS) and Multicast (PIM, DVMRP), DDI (DNS/DHCP/IPAM) and SDN/NFV technologies. You’ll be able to hit the ground running with a good level of design work and implementation, and able to articulate written documentation for the same. You’ll also be familiar with the following: MPLS architecture and design and network management; Experience with technical product evaluation and new product certification, A good knowledge of IPT and TDM technologies, Intrusion Detection (IDS), vulnerability and penetration testing and threat mitigation is also required.
