A well-established global engineering company based in Stevenage is currently looking to recruit a Senior Occupational Health Advisor, to deputise in the absence of our client's UK Occupational Health Manager and act as site clinic lead, advising on and delivering occupational health in a customer focused quality manner, on an initial contract basis of 6 months. Responsibilities of the Senior Occupational Health Advisor: Support the Occupational Health Manager in the development of occupational health policies & procedures that are fit for purpose, legally compliant and meet the needs of colleagues, employees and customers. Monitor, evaluate and review the effectiveness of existing occupational health (OH) policies and ensure OHA's adhere to best practice and standards. Ensure effective delivery of OH processes Support the development and implementation of the occupational health strategy as directed by the Occupational Health Manager and in line with the occupational health department objectives. Provide specialist occupational health advice to the business. Working in partnership with human resources and management to increase productivity by lowering sickness absence through effective case management. Responding to requests from internal customers for advice to facilitate the resolution of employee health issues. Liaising with external agencies (GP's/Specialists) as required exchanging information in support of a proactive and timely approach to case management. Deliver face to face and telephone case management consultations, train and supervise junior OHA's in case management. Conduct complex case management, handling escalation of queries from junior team members, resolving queries. Assist in the delivery of travel health, pre-placement and other health assessments/health surveillance screening programmes Carry out duties and responsibilities in accordance with the client's Health & Safety Policy and relevant Health & Safety Legislation. Perform duties not specifically identified in the job profile but which are in line with the general responsibilities of the post. Skills and Knowledge: Hold a Registered Nurse qualification - RN (1) on current NMC register Hold an OH (RN3) Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) qualification on current NMC register A successful track record of achievement as an OH professional in a large organisation Experience of clinic team leadership and strong supervisory skills in a service provision context Experience and ability in dealing with complex case management Proficient in producing clear, legible concise and accurate records, letters and reports on OH issues Experience with delivering health surveillance & travel health/immunisation programmes, a travel health certificate is desirable Ability to multi-task and prioritise with a range of complex organisational and business activities Good verbal and written communication skills Good understanding of relevant legislation Excellent PC skills - MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SAP (preferred).
