Our client based in Letchworth is looking to recruit a Development Engineer to develop, evaluate and document electrical and electronic design solutions for exciting, high value electronic systems. You will be required to provide engineering assistance in the coordination and implementation of system development, prototype systems fabrication, testing and evaluation and production transition of all systems. You will have the ability to communicate well and work as part of a team, be self motivated and able to work under minimal supervision, carrying out a variety of electrical and electronic design tasks. You will be flexible and adaptable within a fast-paced product development environment. Ideally you will be educated to degree level in a relevant subject but candidates with an HNC, HND or time served in an apprenticeship in electronic engineering will also be considered. Key Duties / Responsibilities Create new and improved electrical and electronic components and assemblies. Support appropriate engineering reviews and the engineering change process. Provide technical information and support for creation of drawings, bills of materials and related process and control documentation. Support the implementation of product testing and test procedures for both internal and external facilities during all phases of product life cycle. Liaise with customers, suppliers and corporate facilities - worldwide. Conduct feasibility studies involving cost, manufacturability, performance and quality Support for product innovation, new design concepts, new processes and materials. Understands and can interpret product standards and specifications (both Industry standard, eg. MIL spec, ATEX, etc and customer written specs) Engineering Skills and Abilities The ability to communicate design concepts and engineering principles to individual team members and groups from different disciplines and areas of the business Writing reports and documentation Analysing and interpreting data, with recommendations Problem solving skills Understanding and use of Microsoft Office Packages including Excel, Word, Outlook Use of Cadence OrCad or ECAD Design of digital and analogue circuits. As a bonus you will be able to programme in 'C' and Assembler Design for EMC/EMI compliance. Working knowledge of Intrinsically Safe system design and regulations. Ability to integrate both Mechanical and Electrical assemblies at a systems level. This job was originally posted as
