This Development Engineer role is working for a company that is an engineering services and mechatronic solutions provider, established for over 25 years. Their dedicated team provides solutions and services to automotive, aerospace and process controls clients. The company work hard to make their clients happy and also like happy staff too. Their offices are based in a restored historical building, located in beautiful surroundings in Staffordshire. They are currently looking for someone who is eager to work in an exciting, innovative technical environment, and who also wants to learn and pursue their own professional development. Initially you will learn about the company's products and customers, and you will maintain and build on this knowledge in order to keep up to date. Key Responsibilities: Produce or assist in the production of development specifications in conjunction with customers' requirements Design and develop embedded electronics circuits based on high end microcontrollers, such as ARM, MPC565, DSP Processors etc. Write Microcontroller software Develop and debug 32 and 64 bit .NET Windows, as well as debug of both existing and new products Provide some maintenance for existing software and existing circuit designs Write software to meet specifications in C, Matlab, Simulink, VB, Python Organise PCB layouts by using third party resources and manufacturers Work with schematics/PCB's and Bill-of-Materials using appropriate software Provide design services to customers off site from time to time Contribute to producing high quality documentation for new products Work with the Contract Manufacturer to ensure drawings are maintained and adhered to, as well as ensuring that all delivery date deadlines are met Produce appropriate design and user documentation, and assist the Marketing department in ensuring that accurate customer facing documents are produced Adhere to the correct and regular use of web based change control management systems Other duties as assigned such as but not limited to: attending shows, assisting sales support, producing quotes, and assisting with training and sales demonstrations Qualifications, Skills and Experience: A graduate of Science/Engineering with some industrial experience, preferably in automotive engineering A good knowledge of automotive electronic requirements is essential Fluent in C, as well as VB or C# Strong in analogue and digital electronics Knowledge of automotive electronics legislation Good knowledge of CAN and other automotive protocols Experience in the full design, test and validation process through to production Good general technical knowledge Familiarity with, and experience of using simulation testing and prototyping systems Experience of Matlab/Simulink preferably with Real Time Workshop and Embedded Coder knowledge Knowledge of the TLC language, .NET, Linux and networking tools, C++ all advantageous, as well as knowledge of the design and development sector of the automotive market and experience in developing Active-X or .NET components In return for your hard work, you will receive excellent training and benefits, along with challenging but interesting work.
