Solutions Architect A unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced Solutions Architect within a government department. Our client is a government department responsible for the registration of land and property in England and Wales. They are a successful, high performing, innovative organisation. For more than 150 years, they have protected and guaranteed people’s land and property rights. Position: Solutions Architect Location: Plymouth, Devon Contract type: Permanent. Flexible working, full-time, part-time available (working a minimum of 30 hours per week over 5 days) Salary: £45,746 to £50,037 (inclusive of an IT Allowance of £4,518) Benefits: 28.5 days annual leave, plus eight days public holidays and up to 24 days flexi leave a year additionally (pro rata for part time staff). The main responsibility of the Solution Architect is to ensure the ICT solutions implemented for our client are strategically aligned with both government and internal policies. You will act as a bridge between the Enterprise Architecture function and the implementing Information System groups, playing a critical role in ensuring solutions are considered within time/cost/quality constraints against a user needs background. When required the job-holder will be required to work with external suppliers and partners to ensure our client benefits from their expertise. What you can expect from them is support in obtaining industry recognised professional qualifications, for example TOGAF 9, ISEB Enterprise and Solutions Architecture Intermediate certifications. This post is currently based in Plymouth; regular travel to Head Office and to other locations within the UK will be necessary. This could result in overnight stays away from home. About you: Successful candidates will have a background in an IT functional specialism and proven expertise and practical experience in at least one of the following areas: information/data engineering, integration engineering (including interface design and familiarity with web-oriented architecture techniques) and/or software engineering. You will also have the ability to translate business requirements using analysis methods and requirements gathering and experience of leading / effective working with IT technical specialists. A proven track record of providing sound advice on a wide variety of application and data issues based on a breadth of IT technical knowledge is also crucial to success in this role.
