VACANCY : Buyer - fixed term contract 12 months We are looking to recruit a Buyer to support our Supply Chain strategy of Category Management. To assist in the planning, organisation and control of purchased materials for the company ensuring the correct components are supplied at the right time, in the most cost effective and economical way possible to achieve 100% on time customer delivery. A proactive role within the materials and project teams. Main Responsibilities To negotiate and maintain contractual arrangements with external suppliers. To be specifically responsible for an agreed list of suppliers and categories of spend, and their management. To liaise with internal and external suppliers and customers to ensure the timely supply of components or services. To monitor and continually improve product cost, lead-times whilst maintaining quality and communication. To participate proactively in the Product Development Team and to champion the requirements of the Materials and Production Department's in the development of new product designs. To facilitate the introduction of new potential suppliers whilst maintaining the strategy of reducing the total supplier database through category leverage programmes To coordinate tooling contracts and subsequent maintenance with agreed suppliers and categories. Requirements Minimum of HNC/HND in Engineering, Business Studies or alternative subject. Minimum of Level 4 of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply qualification. Good experience of production planning and procurement systems Ability to effectively use computer and communication technology such as Microsoft Office packages. Experience of establishing excellent relationships with suppliers Experienced in negotiation with internal and external suppliers and customers. Experience in negotiating agreements for complex items and understanding the technical issues involved. This job was originally posted as
