Charles Taylor is driving forward the development of the Group’s insurance technology business strategy to focus on meeting the large and growing demand from global insurance markets for technology services delivered by insurance specialists. The global insurance technology market is growing rapidly with increasing demand from insurers to replace legacy systems, bring new products to market quickly and capitalise on the potential of data and predictive analytics. We are looking for an Oracle Database Administrator lead to work within our existing Database Administrator team. You will be responsible for Oracle installations, administration, optimization and support within our environment. Upgrades, along with Oracle related technical support are all part of the role. In addition, working with developers and other DBA members of the team, growing the Oracle DBA team in line with business demand. Responsibilities Monitoring and maintenance of production, test and development database servers, including: Security management of all databases Investigate data/performance related issues Installation, configuration and maintenance of SQL environments Implement alerting Data recovery Automation of database support activities Performance tuning & optimization Creation and maintenance of Application objects (For ex. Type of tables and indexes, Partition types/keys, Foreign keys/constraints, segment type and size etc.) Define and maintain database roles and permissions for Application objects Define and execute data purge/archival policy Review backup policy with System DBA and suggest schedule/timings to avoid conflict with application processes Review SQL execution plans on critical application queries Help with Application code testing during application releases or DB upgrade/migration to avoid SQL performance issues Creates and maintains appropriate documentation (Database, Architecture, etc.) Analyzes and diagnoses problems reported to the help desk, escalate support issues Implements, periodically tests and reviews appropriate data access and security measures, including access control, audit, backup/restore and system rebuild & recovery processes Required Skills Weblogic-11g Application Server Installation, Configuration, Administration & Troubleshooting Oracle SOA Suite 11g Installation, Configuration, Administration & Troubleshooting Oracle OSB 11g Installation, Configuration, Administration & Troubleshooting Write SQL/PL/SQL and understanding of SQL execution plans and tuning Review and tune SQL/PL/SQL code Knowledge of different types of Oracle database objects including indexes & partitioning Worked with Microsoft Windows 7,Server 2003/2008/2012, Linux/Redhat Desirable Understanding of database design concepts Degree level educated or equivalent qualifications or experience Have good ‘All-rounder’ knowledge of key infrastructure areas including virtualisation, cloud services, storage & networks – with appropriate professional qualifications. Demonstrate knowledge of managing problems and incidents, and proven experience of applying monitoring, alerting and escalation procedures. Use industry standard support & service delivery frameworks – ITIL certified desired Oracle Internet Directory (OID) & IDM administration & troubleshooting Configuration of LDAP and SSO for fusion middleware based products such as Oracle SOA Suite, OSB, BI Publisher. Hands-on experience and Knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Manager (EM) 11g & 12c The ideal candidate will demontrated proven years of experience and knowledge of system analysis, development and maintenance of Database (DBMS) systems. You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to converse with our clients by email and telephone using correct spelling, grammar and punctuation.
