Job Title: Quality Engineer Company: We are designers and manufacturers of electric motors and drive systems providing complete solutions for motion control applications. We have a challenging mix of ongoing serial production and development projects involving new leading edge technologies to be taken from prototype to volume manufacture. The role requires an individual willing to play a key role in the engineering team involved in quality, supplier selection and management, design for manufacture, manufacturing tool design and production methodology. Reporting to: Production Manager Salary: Based on experience and qualification: £30k-35k p.a. Benefits include: 23 days holiday, life cover and excellent transport links: walking distance from Alton train station and on-site parking just off the A31. Hours: 37.5hrs per week , 8.30am – 5.15pm Mon – Thurs, 8.30am – 1pm Fri, although flexibility is often required in order to meet customer deadlines. Key Candidate Attributes: Have experience in a QA and production engineering capacity involving mechanical and electronic components Must hold at least an HNC Engineering qualification Able to operate our software supported MRP II environment Ability to develop and maintain PFMEA, PPAP and Control Plans from DFMEA and product descriptions Ability to analyze data, identify key problems and implement solutions to permanently eliminate them using Six sigma and 8D Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Must be able to communicate clearly across the company, its suppliers and its customers Be practical, efficient and able to prioritise workload in a busy working environment Be enthusiastic about joining a small but growing team and be proactive in identifying opportunities to improve quality and productivity General Responsibilities: The person in this position will be a critical player in maintaining and continuously improving a quality system to meet customer requirements, driving down the cost of quality and eliminating sources of customer dissatisfaction An active role in updating and maintaining the current ISO-9001 certified quality system Tracking and reporting key quality metrics and identifying product, process and production engineering opportunities Failure analysis of field returns and assignment of corrective actions to appropriate functions Maintaining supplier quality including supplier performance ratings, communication of issues, corrective action and system auditing Maintaining customer required Quality Systems, including: APQP tools (PFMEA, DFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP) Document Control, Corrective And Preventive Actions, Supplier Quality Auditing – Internal and Supplier Systems Identify top field issues. Track returns through the warranty process, and insure that timely root cause analysis is completed and followed through corrective actions with suppliers and/or internal company processes. Reviewing, updating and documenting build processes with a view to improving both efficiencies and quality Setting up or assisting in value engineering method for cost reductions Supporting design with technical and manufacturing methods Opportunities to be involved with design for manufacture Day-to-day administration, filing and updating of spreadsheets/databases as required If you feel you have the right skills and what it takes we would love to hear from you.
