Established in the 1980's, our client is a privately owned stock based, manufacturing business. They are now looking to recruit an experienced Technical and Product Services Engineer to report to their General Manager. The role is primarily to manage all technical support services in the business, and to provide the sales team with technical advice and support. In particular, support for the recently added products and brands which include handheld PDA’s, tablets, bar code printers and scanners. It is also expected that the role will adopt responsibility for touch screen POS terminals, receipt printers and payment devices. The successful candidate will be expected to manage and provide advice and support in the use of the hardware and associated firmware and generic software. Therefore, they will need to be self motivated and passionately interested in the product. The position could be based in Manchester or Lydd, Kent (it may also be home based for the right candidate). Key Responsibilities will include: Manage all technical aspects of products and internal support infrastructure Guide the business in future product demand and assist with the selection of brands and product Oversee technical aspects of products and their development Manage internal and external technical support services (including repairs) Attend training to develop relevant product knowledge and skills. Investigate / research industry standards for product support Distribute new technical information to respective departments Manage internal software / hardware in conjunction with external support service This position would suit a natural team player adaptable to change, with good written and verbal communication skills.
