Our client is seeking a New Business Bid Manager for their site based in St Ives. You'll support the generation and implementation of new electronics manufacturing services business and existing business under review by engaging with nominated current and prospective clients to understand their technical and commercial requirements, preparing costed proposals to address them, progressing these to successful conversion and championing resulting new product orders through the company NPI process. What You'll Be Doing: • Determine in association with the Business Development and / or Managing Directors the potential fit of new business opportunities and an appropriate company response. • Develop effective communication and interaction with colleagues, promoting a flexible and responsive approach to new business opportunities. • Develop trust based relationships with key decision makers, evaluators and influencers in prospects and customers, promoting confidence in the client as a manufacturing partner. • Develop a deep understanding of the business activities and products of prospects in order to recognize and plan the actions for the company to take to secure new business from them. • Review and evaluate in conjunction with functional managers the technical and commercial risks associated with new business opportunities. • Identify appropriate sources for customer specified materials/components. • Coordinate material costings with the Logistics group, liaising directly with suppliers as necessary to obtain and collate material cost and availability information. • Identify options and make recommendations for customer consideration of alternative components and processes to reduce cost and / or lead time. • Liaise with Operations to establish availability of capacity and appropriate resources to support proposals. • Prepare commercial proposals to address customer requirements which are consistent with company guidelines. • Elicit prospect feedback on proposals submitted and if appropriate submit revised proposals • Ensure changes in customer requirements are documented and where necessary proposals revised. • Champion new product orders through the NPI process ensuring critical path elements are identified and timely actions taken. • Provide regular formal and informal reports to management on the status and progress of proposals and NPIs. What We're Looking For: You will have a strong technical background with a sound grasp of electronics principles and manufacturing processes, a degree level qualification in electronics or related engineering discipline would be beneficial. You will have had significant experience working within the electronics manufacturing industry and ideally experience working within the electronics manufacturing industry with customer interaction, electronics manufacturing processes, product costing and component specification and sourcing. You will have a competent understanding of component identification, specifications and alternatives and be commercially skilled and aware with good understanding of the potential to balance cost, availability and specification. You will be a proficient user of IT including MS Office, specifically Excel. Experience of working with ERP systems including BOMs, POs and Inventory would be advantageous. You will be self-motivated with a can-do attitude and hands-on approach to all tasks with the ability to multitask several projects, assessing and prioritising critical path actions while ensuring on target completion of projects. You will have effective verbal and written communicator with good negotiating skills for building relationships with customers, suppliers and colleagues at all levels.
