Due to their continued growth, an international manufacturer is looking to strengthen its existing team by bringing in additional Shift Leader. You will receive a salary between £35,000 and £40,000 and is happy to work on a 3 week shift rotation. The successful Shift Leader, will effectively manage shift personnel and achieve planned output in line with key performance indicators for your department. Key Responsibilities: Ensure that production objectives and schedules are met in accordance with quality, cost, delivery, health, safety and environmental standards. Liaise with shift managers on outgoing and incoming shifts to identify and manage shift production and personnel issues. Deliver team briefings and seek feedback from employees on key issues to ensure understanding of the company’s and the department’s goals and plans. Manage the performance of shift personnel in accordance with the company’s performance management process in a fair and consistent way. Ensure that quality, cost, delivery, health, safety and environmental procedures are fully adhered to. Identify and eliminate the root causes of quality, cost, delivery, health, safety and environmental problems to prevent the recurrence of problems. Carry out appropriate risk assessments on activities within area of responsibility and put effective risk controls in place to ensure safe working. Report and investigate accidents and near misses, and take corrective action within agreed timeframes. Manage the induction and training of shift personnel to ensure that people have the ability to perform their roles to the required standard. The successful Shift Leader, will possess a sound knowledge of being a highly experienced Shift Leader, who will also have effective people management skills (induction, training, coaching, motivation, performance management, conflict resolution, attendance, return to work interviews, counselling, discipline). You will also have: Effective Health, safety and environmental management skills (risk assessment, risk management, accident reporting, accident investigation). Effective quality management skills (customer standards, quality procedures, product inspection, FMEA, mistake proofing, 8D problem solving, quality auditing). Effective continuous improvement skills (5S, 7 wastes, SMED). Effective communication skills (team briefing, shift reporting, assertiveness). Ability to work under pressure and to use own initiative. Literacy, numeracy and computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Strong attention span, a good eye for detail, manual dexterity.
