Quality Manager London 4LM Programme (£800million london underground programme) Permanent Full Time Day Shift Primary Purpose of the Role: The Project Quality Manager’s role is to ensure customer requirements, legal/contractual requirements and Thales processes are incorporated in the project/s approach and processes; by providing professional and effective Quality Assurance leadership across the GTS Project/s. Supporting the Project Director and as a member of the project Senior Management team. This is a critical project role that is responsible for defining, managing and coordinating the Quality Assurance activities for the Thales products, services and support being provided to the client. Key Responsibilities and Tasks: To fully understand the clients requirements to enable the Project Quality Manager to represent ‘the voice of the customer ‘during internal discussions to maximise customer focus. Define and set up the Quality plans in phase of bids and project. Develop credible relationships across the project team to input into pragmatic solutions to eliminate / mitigate issues, risks. Knowing when it is appropriate to escalate topics. Proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and reducing the cost of poor quality. Preparing monthly Quality statistics, trend analysis and improvement opportunities. Supplier Quality performance monitoring and management in conjunction with procurement. Attend and present salient information at weekly and monthly Senior contract reviews including customer meetings to present Quality trends and OTIS (opportunities, threats, Issues & Success). Facilitate & coach on Root Cause Analysis activities across a wide range of topics on the project. Act as coach to develop Project Quality Engineer, supporting and fast tracking their personal development plans. Overall responsibility for the coaching and development of the Quality Assurance team in order to ensure resources are trained and competent to perform their duties effectively. Management and development of Quality Assurance departmental budget and resource estimates in line with company and project objectives; Monitoring and surveillance of the effectiveness of the Project Hierarchy of Plans (HOP) to ensure the policies, processes and procedures in place are effective. Support local and corporate Business Improvement initiatives and programs; and cultivate continual improvement. To provide the quality support and maintain an effective operational relationship between Thales’ Stakeholders including clients, consortiums, subcontractors, suppliers and the project team. Key performance Indicators against Responsibilities and Tasks (professional only): Site surveillance coverage Non conformance reporting (Hardware & Installation) Site NCR trends – targets to be agreed Cost of Poor Quality System Corrective Action report closure Skills Essential Quality Management Root Cause Analysis Quality tools and techniques Computer tools including Microsoft Office Suite, databases, and scheduling tools Excellent communication / relationship building skills Experience: Essential Demonstrable experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control Management on railway signalling projects, both main line and mass transit Experience in auditing and process development Demonstrable experience in management of teams and contractors Acting as a Senior Management Team member Desirable Any client specific experience tangible to the project Considerable experience and working knowledge of QUENSH and good understanding of ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001 Values & Behaviours: Focus on Customers Perform through teaming Innovate Develop our people Financial / Budgetary Responsibility: Responsible for cost control and Quality team project budget Qualifications: Essential Graduate with relevant Quality or engineering discipline or HNC/HND level in an Engineering related discipline.
