As part of our newly transformed IT Department this is your opportunity join our senior management team to help shape, develop and manage our specialist Applications team to help drive the delivery of next generation Digital Services. As Head of Applications you will lead and inspire a skilled team of application experts to deliver business transformation and cutting edge application solutions across a range of core disciplines including Business Intelligence, Learning and Corporate Applications, Development and Integration within a broad but strategically architected technology environment As part of the IT leadership team you will play a major part in setting direction and leading the IT function as a whole, developing talent and ensuring good governance. The Person An experienced manager, strategic leader and having a strong background in Application Management, you will have experience of developing, improving and implementing strategy enabling technology and business change, ensuring services and architectural standards deliver significant benefits and leading a high performing team. As an agent of change, you will seek to work with the wider university to understand how digitzation can drive opportunities and success for the University and provide recommendations on where investments can achieve most value. You will bring to the role extensive, relevant knowledge and experience of IT best practice including: Strong and inspirational leadership setting clear direction and driving pace and rigour Strong background managing an applications within a large and complex organisation that deliver transformational change and solutions for a breadth of enterprise scale applications including legacy and modern technologies Proven experience of managing a applications environment across business administration, learning, research and student journey related systems including the design, implementation and support Experience of leading technologies and services including on premise and cloud based services Communication You will be a self-motivated and dynamic individual who is able to challenge and influence others, develop and maintain collaborative and influencing working relations across IT and non IT departments; Proven experience in building strong relationships across complex organisations, stakeholder groups internal and external partners Kingston University is located in a busy, vibrant riverside town on the borders of London and Surrey and has something for everyone Join us and you’ll work in a University that aims to be internationally recognised for its creativity and innovation.
