As part of our Managed Services business, Redcentric are continually developing a range of Infrastructure Managed Service offerings for both partners and customers. The junior engineer role will primarily be responsible for providing the ongoing day to day support and maintenance of the Redcentric infrastructure The engineer will report to the Redcentric Team infrastructure team leader. THE ROLE: To work within a team of Infrastructure Support Specialists and Consultants to deliver and support Virtual hosting based services for a growing client base and operate the underlying infrastructure in line with our stated SLAs and OLAs. The ideal candidate will be required to have; • Excellent people skills, the ability to work within their own team and other teams or customers. • Experience in a service provider environment, and must have at least 2 years’ experience working in a customer support • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work towards a common goal with a positive work ethic. • The ability to work under pressure and occasionally to work extended hours • Knowledge of ITIL guidelines (Foundation V3 accreditation) would be advantageous in this role KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Key responsibilities will include but are not restricted to the following: Work to ITIL guidelines with respect to incident, problem and change management Adopt an approach of Continual service improvement (CSI) Provide technical support for all current virtualisation services Monitor, review and resolve technical support incidents Basic fault diagnosis and strong problem management skills Develop a technical understanding of the service portfolio and customer solutions Maintain sound working knowledge of internal and customers virtualisation platforms and OS/Applications e.g. ESXi, vSphere, vCenter, Redhat and CentOS Client site visits for consultancy, presales and service review support when required Assist with development and testing of new services, upgrades & patch release Provide technical support and guidance to other departments across the business High level of customer service, retaining technical respect from customers at all times A good level of documentation skills for KB, build, install and training requirements in line with PCI, ISO27001 & ISO9001 accreditations Manage integrity of configuration information stored on internal systems and devices PERSON SPECIFICATION The role requires a good level of technical skill in support, in addition the ability to discuss technical issues both internally and externally (with customers). It also requires a drive to learn new skills and train in highly complex infrastructure environments. The successful candidate will be driven and professional with a desire to become a fully skilled and qualified 3rd line Infrastructure Support Engineer. The role requires a level of management and a working knowledge for the following technologies: • VMware 5 or higher • SAN/NAS Principals • Windows OS • Awareness of Enterprise Server & Storage hardware technology • Basic network knowledge including WAN/LAN topology, TCP/IP, DNS and routing • Experience administering Server technology A working knowledge of the following technologies would be desirable for the role: • Redhat Linux • Windows • Ubuntu • CentOS Personal Attributes: ? A “can do” attitude HOURS OF WORK The Company's standard hours of work are 9.00am - 5.30pm with one hour for lunch, however, given the nature of the role flexibility in terms of hours worked will be required to deal with incidents as they occur.
