About us Landmark Information Group, part of the Daily Mail & General Trust (DMGT), is the UK's leading provider of land and property search information, including digital mapping, environmental risk reports for property professionals and sophisticated property management tools to surveyors, risk and fraud managers and the broader financial markets. It also has operations in Germany in the form of On-Geo, and interests in Holland. We develop both products and services/solutions for our customers, ranging from environmental consultants, surveyors and some of the UK's largest banks & lending institutions (to name just a selection) who all have a common interest - land and property information. The opportunity We are looking for a Solution Architect who will be responsible for designing and owning the architecture of one of Landmarks software products/product portfolios. You will be responsible for ensuring there is an overall technology vision for the department, one that is maintainable and consistently applied. Enough experience in development practices to have credibility, working alongside the Head of Development to recruit new Developers and enhance skills/knowledge existing ones. Where choices of new technology need to be made, the Solution Architect helps the Technical Leads make the right selection and justifies this choice to the Architecture Board, but we always try to have a consistent technology framework rather than a wide variety. A key part of the role is to consider how and where the code will be deployed and how in its operational state it can be supported by non-developers. You will have a leading role in terms of communicating the vision to internal and external customers and may be required to support Sales meetings as well as completing RFPs. This is not a day to day hands-on development role, but the some-one with strong up to date development skills, ability to peer review code and troubleshoot issues is essential and advance the technological agenda. Initially the job is to take an existing vision and see it implemented consistently through to conclusion, but understanding how new technology trends (CAMBRIC) can be adopted for our market. About you To be considered for this role you must have excellent knowledge of technology environments, including software and application architectures, Cloud, Mobile and associated programming techniques, together with solid experience of the operational support requirements of software products. You need to have a good understanding of Quality and Information Security principles and have analytical and problem solving skills. The role necessitates significant customer interaction and the support of complex Sales Bids hence any applicants must be able to evidence their commercial awareness and acumen. It would be advantageous to have a Degree in a relevant subject, however this is not essential. Ideally the candidate will also have people management skills – being a line manager and helping individuals develop their own careers with a mixture of soft skills as well as technical. If you believe you have the skills, knowledge and experience for this role, and what to be part of an exciting organisation that transforms the land and property industries, we would like to hear from you.
