JUNIOR ESTIMATOR RAIL SECTORS SALARY BAND £20-25K, DEPENDANT ON EXPERIENCE PLUS BENEFITS AN OVERVIEW One of our clients is a multi-million pound turnover business and an expert at delivering high voltage power installations and maintenance in the rail and power networks industries. In this role you will be responsible for assisting the Sales and Commercial Director with compiling tender documents and pricing up jobs to help secure new works. Keeping spreadsheets up to date with costs for material and tools. Reporting into the Sales and Commercial Director, the role is for those looking to start and develop their career with a progressive contracting organisation and offers the ability to develop into a managerial role within a 3-5-year period. REQUIREMENTS: The production of estimates for bids which place the company in the most competitive and commercially advantageous position and will include: Reviewing and understanding the requirements of the documents. Attending meetings with the assigned bid team to agree and sign off specific resource requirements and outputs. Liaison with the estimating buyer to ensure price procurement of materials and subcontracts by due date. Liaison with the Client representative to obtain clarifications or further information Production of Bill of Quantities/Schedules as required Build up costs of resources for all activities to produce most competitive price. Compilation and assessment of risks for inclusion with those of other bid team members into risk register. Compilation of pricing clarifications for inclusion with tender submission. Production of the tender breakdown (Tender Workbook) for discussion and agreement at the tender adjudication. Attendance at tender adjudication meeting Completion of all tender documentation for return by due date Check all deliverables are enclosed and submit tender by due date and time. Other Duties: Ensure compliance with all the client controlled documents including all the clients’ procedures. Be pro-active in developing new systems to meet changing departmental needs. Skills and Knowledge: Commercial awareness and understanding. Resourcefulness and ability to work under pressure. Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word Organised, with good time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines Professional Experience: Ability to build up price from basics to unit rates. Some experience of working within site environment (Advantage) Experience of working within a team. Desirable: Ability to work under pressure to meet return dates. Experience of having worked in a rail environment Educated to a degree level (2.2 or above) – preferably with an engineering background, however all degrees considered Technical construction knowledge An understanding of different forms of Conditions of Contract Computer literate with knowledge of estimating software PERSONAL CHARATERISTICS: They are seeking an active, target driven candidate that employs an enthusiastic and motivated approach to their work. Strong IT skills are a must as you will be collating data and putting together tender documents. Confidence both on the telephone and face to face situations and an organised mind to ensure all tenders are managed effectively.
