IT Infrastructure Manager Located in Somerset Salary £35k DOE Job Purpose: The primary purpose of the role is to ensure that the company has the IT infrastructure, client devices, support services and business applications that it requires to execute its business, as defined in the IT annual business plan. Specifically, this role will be responsible for delivering the business infrastructure and will support the IT Applications Manager & IT Service Delivery Manager in the delivery of the remaining services. As a secondary role, the IT Infrastructure Manager will occasionally be called upon to support divisions in bids and operational projects, providing advice and effort as agreed. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the services are provided in as efficient a manner as possible and that they are compliant with the corporate and security governance frameworks. The Role: The IT Infrastructure Manager will, working with the IT Service Delivery Manager and the IT Applications Manager, be the champion of IT within the company and will be responsible for defining and owning the delivery of the strategic roadmap for the IT systems. This roadmap will ensure that the IT systems are aligned to the company’s business strategy. Responsibilities will include: Strategic: Contribute to the overall business plan, working cross functionally with internal stakeholders to elicit requirements and develop the IT roadmap and budgets that support both the long term and the short term objectives of the overall business. Delivery of the elements of the roadmap applicable to them, within the agreed budget. Identify and propose options to improve the operation or efficiency of the business. Operational: Ensure that the infrastructure is available to all users as required by the business and that it is delivered within the agreed annual budget. Ensure that the required testing and monitoring is carried out on the infrastructure to detect potential and actual attacks as well as test for vulnerabilities. Ensure that where issues are identified these are highlighted with proposed actions and that any actions defined or agreed are implemented. Keep up to date with technology trends and new developments. Ensure that an enterprise wide disaster recovery plan is in place for all IT infrastructure elements and that it is maintained and tested. Ensure that all IT infrastructure is compliant with the corporate and government security requirements. Support operational projects in infrastructure and related activities. Manage any staff allocated to the team. Requirements: Ability to make decisions within tight timescales. Ability to network positively with staff from all levels and departments and to quickly gain respect and credibility for sound technical judgement and decisions. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Commercial, business and financial knowledge. Flexibility to respond to changing business needs. Ability to support more than one project at a time. Resourceful and dependable; a team worker and the ability to work alone. Ability to set and maintain high personal standards – embody the company’s vision and values. Willing and able to travel between sites at short notice depending on demands of the business. Be eligible for UK Security Clearance Checks. Essential Skills: Proven Virtualisation Experience – HyperV and VMWare. MCSA Server 2008/2012 or above. In depth knowledge of Corporate IT Fundamentals with examples: Networking, Active Directory and associated services. Backup, A/V, VPN, Proxies, WiFi, PKI, MDM.
