Software Engineers 1 x Permanent Vacancy - Salary £38k - £40k 2 x Six month Contract Roles – Rate up to £350 per day DOE Based in Bristol. The job holder may be required to travel for customer/external contractor meetings. Visits away for more than one day may be required. Job Purpose: To undertake software design, development, integration and unit test activities across a range of projects. The role will include: Requirements capture and analysis; Software Architecture and detailed design; Extensive use of OOA / OOD / OOP; Software development Software validation and verification (unit, module, integration, system and acceptance testing); Contribution to bid work. Key Areas: Software Engineering across a range of transport projects (90%) The successful candidate will work individually and within a team environment of multi-disciplined specialists and engineers to achieve program results and customer deliverables in a timely and accurate manner. Task Management (5%) The successful candidate will manage their own tasks and projects, meeting quality standards and acceptance criteria. Bid and Enquiry Support (5%) The successful candidate will assist in business development activities by contributing to proposal documents for new prospects to expand the work stream. Supporting Bid Managers and producing bid documentation to budget and timescale. Essential Skills: TypeScript and/or JavaScript Single Page App frameworks (ideally Angular 2) C#.NET C# unit test frameworks Knowledge of software development methodologies Full lifecycle experience Version control (mercurial or git) Desirable Skills: ASP.NET MVC and Web API HTML, CSS, Bootstrap Cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, OpenStack) Database JavaScript unit test framework Continuous Integration (ideally Jenkins) Messaging frameworks (Azure Service Bus, RabbitMQ) iOS and Android app development Experience / Qualifications: Degree (or equivalent) in a suitable discipline Min. 3-years preferably 5-years’ experience in software engineering Experience of a high-integrity software development environment, where systems are mission critical, business critical or safety critical Experience of developing and deploying web applications NOTE: Please be aware that candidates must be eligible and will be required to undergo UK Security Clearance Checks.
