This is a 4 month internship paying £23,375 pro-rata with the potential to convert to a permanent job. How can you expect to spend your day? You will join the Performance Management team responsible for using data analysis to monitor clinical performance across London’s hospitals and clinics, seeking to drive change and transformation, constantly with patient’s best interest at heart. Tasks you can expect to learn about and be responsible for: • Support the provision of timely and accurate performance information to the performance team, contract teams and various clinics across London. • Develop good relationships with all internal and external stakeholders e.g. LAS, Trusts and clinics. • Develop a positive constructive relationship with all internal and external stakeholders. • Develop effective working relationships with members of the performance team. • Translate complex performance information and share in a constructive and professional way to assist each clinic in implementing change. • Contribute to the implementation of a new performance management framework which will improve clinics relationship with their patients. • Produce detailed information to support performance monitoring and improvement e.g. summary tables/ charts. • Monitor the submission of data sets from clinical providers e.g. number of patients vs beds. • Submit performance data within the delegated timescales. • Deal with queries relating to data or information. • Extrapolate the meaning from data as guided by the Head of Performance. • Help refine processes to enable efficient monitoring of data. • Support other team members with performance deliverables. • Support the identification of early warning of risk against delivery of national targets to enable early intervention as appropriate. • Develop or create reports, documents for inclusion on the portal e.g. using spreadsheets and SPC charts. • Maintain information systems used for data collection and ensure systems are adapted to reflect changes in data collected. • Contribute to the development/implementation of the performance portal that meets client needs. • Support the further development of performance information and dashboards e.g. winter control portal. • Ensure that all documentation relating to the portal and procedures are in place and accurately maintained. • Provide user support for access to the portal in a timely and efficient manner. • Work with the Performance team members to undertake, as agreed, specific interventions with Acute Trusts to achieve sustained improvement in performance. The ideal intern’s personality, qualifications and experience: This role most suits a recent graduate looking to develop commercial work experience in research and analysis within a world renowned healthcare organisation where personal development is encouraged and offered. Desired skills: • Educated to degree level. • An interest to learn about performance assessment and improvement e.g. business analysis and improvement. • Comfortable with research and data led work, mainly desk based but some over the phone or face to face. • An interest in healthcare. • Strong level of numeracy. • An organised individual able to prioritise workload as required. • Working knowledge of a range of MS Office programmes especially Excel. • Good inter personal skills and someone comfortable liaising with colleagues and partners on a professional level. • Looking to develop a professional career in either research, business analysis or healthcare.
