This Legal Practice Operations Director role is working for a well-established firm of Solicitors based in the North West of Ireland in Letterkenny, Co Donegal, and who also have offices based in Dublin. They are specialists in: Insurance Law/Arbitration, Personal Injury Compensation Law, Insolvency Law and Immigration. The firm has a strong reputation for delivering high quality advice and excellent results for clients. Reporting to the Managing Partner of the firm, the successful candidate will direct and control the firm's operations and to give strategic guidance and direction to the Principal to ensure that the firm achieves its mission and objectives. Ideally, they are looking for someone to take up the role on a permanent basis, but they are also willing to consider an interim 6-12-month contact if preferred. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of success in senior level, general or commercial management, preferably in a related industry. Key Responsibilities: Direct and control the work and resources of the firm and ensure the recruitment and retention of well-motivated, trained and developed staff. Prepare a corporate plan and annual business plan and monitor progress against these plans to ensure that the firm attains its objectives as cost-effectively and efficiently as possible. Oversee the preparation of annual reports and accounts, ensuring approval of the Principal. Provide strategic advice and guidance to the Principal and the members of the Partnership, to keep them aware of developments within the industry and to ensure that the appropriate policies are developed to meet company and statutory regulations. Establish and maintain effective formal and informal links with major customers, relevant government departments and agencies, local authorities, key decision-makers and other stakeholders generally, to exchange information and views and to ensure that the firm is providing the appropriate range and quality of services. Develop and maintain research and development programmes to ensure that the firm remains at the forefront in the industry. Prepare, gain acceptance, and monitor the implementation of the annual budget to ensure that budget targets are met, that revenue flows are maximised and that fixed costs are minimised. Develop and maintain an effective marketing and public relations strategy to promote the products, services and image of the firm in the wider community. Represent the firm in negotiations with customers, suppliers, government departments and other key contacts to secure the most effective contract terms for the company. Key Skills and Experience required: Years of experience gained in a senior level, general or commercial management, preferably in a related industry. Proven success at this level of managing people and resources. Graduate calibre, preferably with a higher degree in a management discipline or a professional qualification. A very high level of commercial awareness. An understanding of financial management and wider management principles and techniques. Political and presentation skills with an appreciation of the demands of conflicting interests and of meeting statutory requirements. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Excellent organisational skills along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. A legal background would be beneficial but is not essential. The successful candidate will receive a generous salary, along with an excellent benefits package. The majority of your time will be spent in the office based in Letterkenny, but you will be expected to travel to their Dublin office on a regular basis as well.
