Service Manager - Automation/ Manufacturing £55,000-£65,000 car, pension, bonus The Company Based in Telford, our client are a well-established specialist systems integrator who have an outstanding reputation for being one of the best leading edge solutions providers. They currently boast a large portfolio of projects spanning an array of manufacturing and production industries including Metals, Rubber, Paper and Materials Handling. The company are currently undergoing an exciting period of growth and hence are looking to create and expand a new service division by bringing in an experienced Service Manager. The department's directive is to provide electrical service and repair services to Industrial and commercial sectors both in the UK and occasionally overseas- Essentially manufacturing organisations who are heavily involved with automated equipment for their manufacturing and production lines. The role Working closely with the Engineering, Operations and Commissioning teams the successful candidate will be expected to grow the service team and offer service and repair services for current accounts and customers to begin with. After the initial growth period, there will be huge support from the sales team to generate large service accounts. You will also be expected to: Understand control and drive systems which will include: PLC - Siemens/Allen Bradley, Drives - Siemens/ ABB etc (software & hardware), SCADA/ HMI . To have full Control and supervision of the automation service department including a 24/7 call out response for contracted customers (eventually). Structure new repair centre within Telford HQ and communicate timescales to the Operations Director/ Project Manager Provide electronic / electrical solutions to the heavy engineering, manufacturing , Food , packaging, paper, textiles and automotive industries through a 24 - 7 repair operation to implementing new turnkey installations utilising Inverters / DC Drives and PLC control. Typical Projects could include the service and repair of: Distributed Control systems- PLC / Drives - Siemens/ ABB SCADA HMI systems Machine Vision systems Motor Controls Centres Networks Qualifications Qualified to degree or HNC level in electrical/electronic engineering desirable Skills and attributes required: Effective communicator Ability to manage entire service department. Ability to work either individually or as part of a team Influential and able to motivate engineering teams Customer management 5 years' experience in a recognised managerial role, leading and directing resources Engineering and reliability principles Commercial Awareness, pricing and costing skills, production of bids, contract negotiation, dispute resolution and work winning advantageous.
