We are recruiting for a Production Build Technician for our client based on the Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire border. The role of the Production Technician is of vital importance to the client and therefore successful applicants will be extremely conscientious in their attitude, which will be reflected in their appreciation of quality, cost and efficiency. A flexible attitude towards working hours and a competent, keen personality are also key to this role. You will be working hands-on as part of the assembly team to assemble, wire and test products and liaising with other departments to identify improvements. You will also ensure production documentation is correctly recorded and is kept up-to-date. The successful candidate will be educated to C&G/ONC/B Tech or equivalent in an Mechanical Engineering subject and have experience working in a technical manufacturing, production or assembly environment. You will also have experience of mechanical and electrical assembly techniques an understand basic mechanical and electrical drawings and be able to fault-find. Mechanical build skills are essential & you should be able to fit & route wiring harnesses & to skilfully use a wide range of engineering hand tools. An excellent communicator, you will be able to work well in a team and have a good understanding of the importance of quality, cost and efficiency. Main Responsibilities: Work hands on as part of the assembly team to assemble, wire and test products. Follow a defined process accurately. Work within the Production Engineering team and other internal functions to continuously identify design, process and efficiency improvements. Ensure that production documentation is correctly recorded and is kept up to date. Effective communication with the Cell Leader(s) to maintain maximum efficiency of the Cell(s). Work as part of the team to ensure work is completed to required timescales, output and quality targets. Involved in the implementation and maintenance of lean manufacturing philosophies. Qualifications, Skills & Experience: Essential: City & Guilds/ONC/B Tech or equivalent in an Mechanical Engineering subject Experience of working in a technical manufacturing, production or assembly environment Experience in mechanical assembly techniques Understanding of mechanical fault-finding Able to read and understand basic mechanical drawings Mechanical build skills Able to skilfully use a wide range of engineering hand tools Able to follow a fixed process without deviation Able to fit & route wiring harnesses Able to inspect and identify faulty components against a drawing Able to read & understand basic electrical drawings Able to problem solve when required PC literate Able to complete required documentation in a timely manner.
