An Exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of Historic Environment Scotland’s Conservation team responsible for the Conservation and maintenance of some of Edinburgh’s most Iconic Sites. We are looking for a Works Manager of a mechanical and Electrical discipline required to supervise our Electricians and Heating Engineers. we are a multi skilled team tasked with maintaining Edinburgh Castle, The Palace of Holyrood House, Holyrood Royal Park and Gardens, Bute House and Trinity House. Key responsibilities, duties and objectives You will be responsible for the effective daily deployment of a team of Monument Conservation MEE staff based at Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace and must ensure that the appropriate personnel, plant and materials are on site to deliver the programme of works and react to all electrical breakdowns and emergencies. Edinburgh Region contains several flagship properties and attention to detail and presentation to the highest standards must be maintained at all times. To take part in and organise statutory testing of; fire alarms, emergency lighting, E.I.C.R. You will be required to raise works orders and use Procurement Visa Card for the purchase of services and materials ensuring value for money. The successful applicant will have direct involvement in staff recruitment, annual reporting, discipline and training. The successful applicant must ensure implementation on a daily basis of Historic Environment Scotland’s Health and Safety policies and ensure these are complied with on site. Including the compliance with the Electrical Regulations and CDM Regulations 2015.They will also carry out risk assessments for all works that are delegated to them. The successful applicant will identify scope to achieve energy, efficiency savings and value for money improvements they will also keep all electrical test records/registers up to date The successful applicant will liaise with HES professional and technical staff, Visitor Services staff, and various other parties on technical aspects in support of functions/events and will be required to provide out of hours support at functions such as Royal Visits, Military Tattoo, Castle concerts, Festival and Hogmanay Fireworks and various other events that take place in the Edinburgh Region all of which requires a degree of flexibility.
