Do you have a passion for working with people with learning disability, to promote their independence? Are you seeking a rewarding career? We are looking for someone with a bubbly personality to support 9 people in the Crookesmoor area. They need around the clock support to enable them to carry out their day to day life. The age range of the tenants varies from mid 30's to early 70's, so everyone's routines are different. However, they each have a wicked sense of humour and like staff who also like good banter. This goes a long way towards encouraging the people who are very reluctant to clean their own home, as there are a lot of domestic duties involved in running this house. A Sunday roast is practically mandatory for the people living there so staff need to know how to cook or be willing to learn Some of the interests of the people living there are: walking, swimming, soap operas, shopping, games such as dominos or draughts, and occasional party nights (which usually includes a few drinks). During the week however, most people like to relax in their rooms or watch TV in the evenings and usually are in bed before 10pm. What should you bring to the role? - A positive can do attitude - Team player - Very pro-active - Good organisational skills - A sense of humour - A flexible approach - The ability to work both as part of a team and lone work. - A strong value base - Good listening and inter personal skills - Good communication skills both verbal and written - Caring attitude What you will need to support with: - Maintain their personal hygiene and care needs - Maintain health needs - Cleaning tasks ensuring their house is clean and tidy - Develop hobbies and interests in their local community including social and leisure activities, and breaks away - Promote healthy eating and helping with planning, preparing and cooking meals. - Keeping healthy including medical appointments and to take their medication - Maintain records about their support - Personal budget plans and paying bills - Maintaining tenancy agreements - Maintaining relationships with families, day services and health care professionals - Good links within local community If this sounds like you then we would be interested in hearing from you.
