Analyst Programmer: At Ageas we invest a lot of time and effort in making sure that the systems and applications we use are fit for purpose and meet the company’s business requirements. That is why we are looking for a Analyst Programmer, who can demonstrate superior technical skills in relation to designing application architectures to meet business requirements and be able to develop these skills for allocated resources within IT. It is crucial that you have the ability to explain complex IT concepts to all levels of customer and approach problems in a logical manner with minimal guidance. Main Responsibilities Assume responsibility for the completion of Functional Designs and ensuring that software and database designs are optimised, robust and secure. Be expert in at least one core business system. Ensure the Ageas development methodology is followed for all project delivery that you have assumed responsibility for. Be able to mentor and develop team members to improve both their technical skill sets and their knowledge of the core business system(s). This may include performance reviews and/or 1-2-1 meetings with team members in areas of responsibility. To ensure and monitor adherence to departmental IT standards to ensure consistency across the department so that software built is efficiently and effectively maintained. Enthusiastic contributor to departmental excellence using knowledge of existing and forthcoming IT technological developments, to propose methods of improving Company / departmental productivity and creating business opportunity via IT systems. To prioritise, plan, monitor and report on allocated projects to ensure delivery is within timescale and to budget, management are kept informed and resources are aligned to business needs. To develop and maintain a solid business awareness and to establish and maintain sound business relations with IT system end-users so that areas where IT can assist with departmental objectives are identified early and end-user requirements are clearly understood. To develop skills and knowledge through on the job training/formal training courses as well as maintaining awareness of industry developments relevant to Ageas. Applying this knowledge within the workplace for the benefit of the department and service delivery. Be able to deputise for the Development Team Leader in the effective management of the team. Knowledge, Skills and Experience Ageas are looking for someone with a strong depth of experience in analysis, design, and programming, including exposure to business systems and processes. The current technical tool sets in use at Ageas are: RPGIV / ILE / Free Format, SYNON, Javascript /HTML /CSS /RPG Smartpages. XML, Webservices, Apache Tomcat application server, JDOM API, Multithreading, JDBC and Java FTP and SFTP. iText API, Spring framework with Hibernate, J2EE, OO Design patterns, C++, COM and IIS.
