My client are a This exciting new Systems Engineer (2 nd /3 rd Line Support) role will be based in a modern and vibrant office reputable Software House who are looking for talented Systems Engineer who shares the same passion for cutting-edge technology. This new Systems Engineer role will be based in a modern office space in the heart of Oxford. The successful Systems Engineer will be responsible for supporting vital systems and infrastructure on a daily basis as the company continues to grow. The ideal Systems Engineer ( 2 nd /3 rd Line Support Analyst ) will have excellent communication and problem-solving skills and come from a technical background. The successful Systems Engineer will be joining a small but well-formed team , assisting the Lead System Administrator and Infrastructure Director with systems and 2 nd /3 rd Line Support. Some of the day-to-day responsibilities of the 2 nd /3 rd Line/ Systems Engineer include: · Purchase and set up new computers/servers, upgrades and warranty · Assist staff with their support queries, managed via Jira. · Investigate system issues (e.g. if there is a server failure within the hosting facilities); the expected level of support will depend on experience · Implementation and upgrade of systems (such as SharePoint, Exchange, Hyper-V) · Patching of servers · Testing of backup and recovery processes The Systems Engineer will be responsible for providing support and administration for the: · Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, WSUS, IIS, Remote Desktop Services · System Center VMMare and Windows Hyper-V clusters · Exchange, SharePoint, Office365 and SQL Server (including High Availability) · System Center Data Protection Manager and Configuration Manager · Apache HTTP, Jira, Wordpress, Drupal, Proftpd, OpenDJ, MySQL, SVN and GIT · Windows, Windows Server and Linux Ubuntu and SUSE · Cloud hosting with Azure and Rackspace as well as private cloud solutions Skills/experience desired by the Systems Engineer include: · Programming experience, working with SQL, C#, PowerShell or ASP.NET · Interest in cloud computing, security and new technologies · Knowledge of network topology, firewalls and security (VLANs, Routing, IEEE 802.1X etc.) This new Systems Engineer role is based in an ideal central location in the beautiful city of Oxford only a short walk from the train station.
