Ageas are currently looking for a Business Intelligence Operations Manager to lead the BI Operations section and manage a range of stakeholder relationships including Underwriting, Claims & Operations, Actuarial and Finance. As part of the above there will be an emphasis on ensuring: Developing and implementing plans for improving business intelligence operational services Managing the delivery of regular reporting and analytics through to customer to schedule Working with the data quality manager to develop the data quality process and reporting Managing the reporting and analytics platforms to ensure availability Managing the day to day activities for front line support and delivery of quick win development Working with federated community of analysts to advise on best practices Job Context BI Operations is pivotal to the company’s operations as it is responsible for the day to day provision of data and reporting to all other business functions to inform decision making, manage operations and respond to external reporting and regulatory information requests. AIL is growing at a rapid pace and the business is evolving so the sophistication of insights and analysis and the efficiency and effectiveness of processes needs to keep pace with the change. The role will need to build relationships with all key stakeholders – customers and suppliers, both internal and external. There is a particular emphasis on ensuring that the controls in place for robust data provision and data quality continue to be appropriate, mitigating the risks in the processes. These should be supported by adequate documentation and testing. The job holder is expected to share their expertise fully across Business Intelligence and participate fully in the management of the department Knowledge, Skills and Experience Managerial/Communication Skills A proven track record of managing and delivering technical/analytic projects. A proven track record of managing and motivating a team within a BI environment, or equivalent experience. Comfortable in ambiguous environments and leading the team through problem solving exercises. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with co-workers and the product management team, managing expectations on what can be delivered. Comfortable challenging peers in a healthy, constructive way. Must be an effective communicator with the ability to marry the company’s business needs with sound technical solutions. Proven track record in presenting complex concepts on both technical and functional requirements to groups, presenting persuasive recommendations, communicating difficult issues and contributing effectively at a senior management level. Ability to thrive under production pressure and deadlines. Strong communication (verbal and written), time management skills, fast learner, self-motivated, and comfortable taking initiative and handling multiple projects simultaneously. Strong planning, organisation, prioritisation and delegation skills. Technical Skills The role requires a high level of understanding of techniques for turning data into intelligence through manipulation and analysis. As such, the ability to adopt and use new software is very important. A high level of numeracy is essential. Knowledge of Business Intelligence solutions and implementations including data warehousing, data store, data quality and data management practices. Knowledge of application development, including business requirements gathering, development, testing, and implementation. Business analysis experience. Knowledge of data models and relationships between data elements. Experience writing data driven reports, working with data to create reports. Familiarity with ETL processes. Proven experience in IT/Analytics Project Management to include: Scheduling, Coordination, Control, Budgeting, and/or Project/Process Documentation following an industry standard process. Working knowledge of Kimball Methodology and knowledge of best practice. Proven experience with business intelligence reporting tools such as SAS, QlikView, Cognos, Hyperion/Brio, Business Objects, MicroStrategy, Microsoft Analytic Services, etc. Strategy Evidences understanding of business strategy and key business drivers and has experience of delivering business intelligence solutions that enable fact-based decision making and ad hoc analysis In depth experience of collaborating with end users to identify needs and opportunities for improved data management and delivery. Proven track record of operating to BI Strategy to satisfy operational needs Education/Work Experience: Degree, or equivalent in analytics, informatics, computer science, programming or business.
